DHUNUCHI NAACH ON NABAMI ( A ritual dance with the incense burner in hands)!
This devotional dance is performed to thank Goddess Durga by holding a dhunuchi, which contains the burning coconut husk with frankincense sprinkled on it. According to beliefs, after 9 days of relentless effort by the Goddess Durga to slay the demon, her devotees performed this dance to energise the Goddess to increase strength.
Earlier days, this dance was performed only by the men. Through the passing times, women became a part of it too. Traditional attired devotees holding the earthen incense burner dances with the beats of the Dhak. The grace, the smoke, the moves, the energy of the Nabami Evening is enchanting to the least.
