KUMARI PUJA ON DURGA ASHTAMI
As per the traditions of the day, young unmarried girls are treated as Goddess Durga and are worshipped on Maha Ashtami. They are worshipped as part of Kumari Puja. In many regions, Kumari Puja is done during all nine days of Durga Navratri.
On this day, we celebrate the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil buffalo demon, Mahishasura. Legend has it that owing to a boon bestowed upon it by Lord Brahma, Mahisasura could only be defeated by a female warrior. Devi Durga was created to bring an end to the sufferings of earthlings in the hands of the evil. Kumari Puja is a reminder that all women are a part of the Goddess
