A girl was reportedly killed by her father and uncle in an appalling honour killing on Tuesday in Jalna. They hung her from a tree and burned her body on a pyre to dispose of the body and conceal the crime.
The village of Pirpimpalgaon, located in the taluka of Jalna, was the scene of the crime. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Suryakala Santosh Sarode, had been seen earlier in the week with a boy who was both a distant relative and a lover. Her dad finally called, and he said they'll get married soon.
The wedding was planned and executed in her absence, with only immediate family members present, over the course of three days. Santosh Sarode, her father, and Namdev Sarode, her uncle, dragged her from the mandap to a tree outside their home shortly before the wedding. Her neck was knotted and she was hung from a tree.
They brought her down later and burned her on a pyre to dispose of the body. Later that night, they gathered her ashes and placed them in a sealed bag. To protect their reputations, the girl's father and uncle decided to have her killed. Everything was staged to make it look like the girl had killed herself.
However, nobody in the household objected to the heinous deed. Someone in the village reported the crime to the police, and the authorities quickly arrested the two suspects. They received a three-day jail term after being found guilty. It's being looked into further at this time.
