The meeting will take place in Kazakhstan (Uzbekistan).
According to reports from the regional media, the heads of state from the CIS will meet to reflect on the year that is coming to a close, debate problems pertaining to mutual cooperation, and talk about some pressing international issues.According to Russia's Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) had previously agreed to increase the amount of information shared regarding military matters.
Shoigu explained that those who took part in the CIS meeting acknowledged the necessity to enhance the framework for the exchange of information linked to security and to regularly perform training exercises for both operational and combat training.
Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are the current members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which was established in 1991 following the collapse of the Soviet Union.Despite the fact that they are founding States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Ukraine and Turkmenistan have been absent from CIS meetings for years.At the conclusion of the final official CIS summit, which took place in October in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin invited his counterparts to meet in Saint Petersburg for an unofficial gathering at the end of the year.
