TCS, the largest private sector employer of women in India, has the highest number of female staff. This company has a workforce of 3.3 million people and out of which 43% is female.
The company was founded in 1968 by N.R Narayana Murthy with six other colleagues who were all men. The company started as an IT consulting firm and now employs over 33,000 women across its various offices in India and abroad.
The number of women employees at TCS has seen a sharp rise from 29% in 2002 to 43% in 2018.
As of March 2018, the TCS has the highest number of female staff in India.They are also ranked as one of the top 5 companies with the highest percentage of female staff globally.With a workforce that is 43% female, it has overtaken Google India to become the most gender diverse company in India.
This shows that women have been underrepresented in leadership roles and are now making strides to change this trend.
