AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY OF MEDICO-COSMETOLOGY
ABORTED FEOTUS IN BEAUTY ESSENTIALS
Abortion may be a considerable issue to upheld but it needs to be a matter of discussion. Though it’s a questionable practice but a considerable issue where a mother’s life is at stack willingly or the other case. It will always be a hearted and heavily debated topic. Arguments have arisen from the religious views to right and safety concerns. But its time to raise our voice against the malpractices continuing around the banner of “ABORTION”.

This is a twin term comes after pregnancy. Derived from the Latin term abortiōnem meaning miscarriage. Abortion is a process or termination of the process of pregnancy by the elimination of foetus or embryo done through medically or surgically. 30%-40% of the pregnancy is done by miscarriages.
It is always seen as a taboo in certain section of society to discuss upon. But now a days, abortion has been legalised pertaining rules and laws in the jurisdictions. The laws are divergent in nature.

Factors such as religious, social and political affairs are required to influence that includes the right to life, right to liberty and the security to person and the right to reproductive health. Certain requirements are needed for an women to met with a legal abortion. Many countries have legalised the abortion laws with certain restrictions. But in spite of all good, we need to find out the loopholes brewing against the process of abortion in hospital facility.

It’s been 50 years of remarkable success in the liberalisation of abortion laws associated with the unmistakeable trend. WHO mentions that 93% of the abortion rates have been since 1990 then with a decline of 43% by 1990-94 and 2015-19. But, by contrast the rate of abortion have increased by 12%. The global trends in abortion have increased the rate of liberalisation with couth countries like United States and Honduras have tighten the restriction policies for abortion. Also includes China, Kenya, Ireland, Zambia, Honduras and Poland.

Out of the thousand questions, an important is that how the process of abortion of foetus is related to the field of cosmetics. Let’s think for a while about our household items? Have u ever wondered that coffee creamer, anti ageing cream, mouthwash or a recent prescribed drugs or the vaccination jabbed upon u is one way or the other linked to the production of foetal cells and tissues? The answer to it is yes, somewhere there’s a possibility of incorporation of the human foetal cells into it. Certain brands of cosmetics, food products and medicine utilise those cells for a variety of purpose from examination till the final production.
The research upon this has been ongoing since 1930s.

therefore, the aborted cells is obtained after their death conventionally by a biotechnology laboratory, medical centre or medical schools. This goes on a process where the cells are replicated and are serialised by an alpha-numeric badge coding.
We are becoming familiar with the stories testifying that the American Abortion Mills are selling aborted fetus cells to a large no of industrial companies for the manifestation of the collagen the main component of the connective tissue. Rather, no such proof is against the US companies over the use of aborted foetal cells in cosmetics and pro lifers never documented such any case. These cells have a number of applications in real business world.

A San Francisco cosmetics company have suddenly outrushed about an unexpected ingredient in its anti-ageing creams with the main protein of the cells from an aborted foetus. One of the companies producing “cosmeceuticals” is Neocutis, a Swiss company whose US-based subsidiary is located in San Francisco. It uses additives made from patented processed skin proteins (PSPs) derived from a cell of an aborted 14-week-old Swiss baby boy. Researchers derived that the cells have restorative properties for skin, to treat burns, ulcers and skin scars and so that found out that this could be the only way to heal injured skin and rejuvenate wrinkled skin. Thus, they include cells of the foetal tissue as the sole ingredient in their products like creams for eczema, psoriasis and anti ageing treatment.
Children of God for Life, a watchdog group that monitors the use of foetal material in medical products, boycott of all products of Neocutis Inc., Debi Vinnedge, the executive director of then, a 10-year-old organization based in Murfreesboro, Tenn mentioned “There’s just no excuse for using aborted babies in skin-care products,” said. “The reaction, the shock and anger I’ve seen is incredible.” Wave of condemnation awake in response from pro life and religious sector which the Neocutis Inc fortified the use of its trademarked ingredient arguing that the foetal cells were garnered in a responsible and ethical manner aimed at treating the dermatological symptoms.

This business has been spread its wings to more than countries like United States, Russia and most of the European countries. Apart from the cosmetics industry, it is used in the food and beverage industry as for the research and development of new flavours and additives colourings to be used in food products. But contrary to the cosmetics industry, the food industry uses the flavours receptors in the kidney cells of a female foetus. This permit to produce the most flavour without the extra incorporation of salt and sugar. Some of the companies that have cancelled its contract with Senomyx owing to the presence of fetal cells include Kraft, Pepsi, Solae, Campbell Soup and Nestle, Ajinomoto amd Firminch are still in collaboration with Senomyx producing the products.

While debating over the topic, medical industry also keep in parallel with other industries. Foetal cells are used in testing, production and treatment of degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s Disease. Human fetal cells are
also used to grow some viruses that are used in certain vaccines for chicken pox, rubella and shingles. Not all vaccines are produced with the same techniques. Some prescribed medication contains it as its sole ingredient like Enbrel and Pulmozyme. It is also being taken as a potential cure for ailments like Retinitis Pigmentosa and also plays an important role in implantation of foetal cells in body.

Though there are some regulation regarding the collection of the cells. Even some researchers use the foetal kidney cells to produce the polio vaccine. However, collagen from the human placenta is significantly used in the cosmetic surgery and the treatment of severe burns. Ample cosmetic company are also into the bargain of placenta in their beauty products.

It is veracious that aborted foetal cells are currently being used in certain vaccines in the United States. According to guidelines published by the Pontifical Academy for Life, with no ethical alternative, the vaccines can sometimes be morally licit.
The scenario regarding vaccines is different from that of cosmetics. Vaccines can save lives but cosmetics cannot. Vaccines are used in the service of humanity where cosmetics serve only the human vanity. Hence, we have an obligation to oppose the revolting practice of using aborted foetal tissue in cosmetics.
