The United States Embassy and Consulates in India have broken their all-time record for the number of student visas issued by achieving a total of approximately 1,250,000 in 2022.
Ned Price, a spokesperson for the State Department, provided this response in response to a question regarding the delay in clearing the backlog of visa applications for Indian tourists: "we are making every effort to shorten visa interview appointment wait times as quickly as feasible."
