Late on Tuesday night, unknown assailants assaulted priests in the vicinity of the ancestral home of the former Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb, in Udaipur, which is located in the Gomati district of Tripura.
The incident took place at the time when a group of priests were visiting Deb's home in Rajdhanagar, which is located in the Jamjuri neighborhood of Udaipur. On Wednesday, the priests traveled to the home of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP in order to perform a Yajna as part of the yearly Shradh ceremony that was held in memory of Deb's father.
Reports indicate that the mob attacked the saints and vandalized their vehicles before fleeing the scene. Following the bystanders and townspeople coming to the priests' aid, the perpetrators of the crime ran off in the opposite direction. I came to visit Maa Tripura Sundari shrine. Because our Gurudev ji wanted me to oversee the preparations for the Yagna that was going to be done on Wednesday, I came here to do so. A mob suddenly appeared, attacked me, and vandalized the vehicle I was driving. They yelled that there would either be members of the CPI(M) or none at all, according to Jitendra Kaushik, whose vehicle was damaged in the incident. Nirupam Debbarma, a Sub Divisional Police Officer, and Debanjana Roy, an Additional Superintendent of Police, hurriedly made their way to the scene in order to deal with the problem.
