The earthquake has caused severe vibrations that have been felt in the eastern part of Tajikistan. On the Richter scale, the earthquake was recorded as having a magnitude of 6.8. The United States Geological Survey located the epicentre of the earthquake 67 kilometres away from the city of Murghob, which is located in the eastern part of Tajikistan.
