He also warned of the potential environmental damage the mine could cause, saying that the vast majority of coal-powered plants are in India and releasing large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Soros's stance on the Adani coal mine is not surprising, given his long history of promoting renewable energy and his criticism of the coal industry. In fact, he recently donated nearly $1 billion to support renewable energy projects throughout the world. He has also been a vocal supporter of the Paris Climate Agreement.
