Twilio is cutting 17% of its workforce in the second round of layoffs, closing offices and discontinuing benefits for remaining employees . The layoffs coincide with a reorganization that splits the company into two business units, Twilio Data & Applications and Twilio Communications . The move is part of an effort to focus on profitability and comes after the company previously shed office staff . The stock rose 4% following the 8-K's release . Twilio is one of the first tech companies to announce a second major staffing reduction in the current economic downturn . Cloud communications company Twilio is also cutting about 17% of its workforce, reducing some office space, and paring back employee benefits in order to focus on profitability.
