Setting the backdrop in the mystical holy city Varanasi, Asur 2 is an Indian crime psychological suspense thriller webseries where plot revolves around a team of forensic experts to catch a serial killer who himself reincarnated into asura kali.
Therefore, the director aptly gave the name as ASUR 2: THE RISE OF THE DARK SIDE. It takes us to the dark world dealing with myths, technology, and human psychology perfectly blending with the real-world elements of the mythologics. The introduction of the Kali vs. Kalki tale from mythology adverts a unique twist to it.
Asur Season 2 offers an interesting watch with elements of suspense and mythology. So, get yourself buckled up to go into the dark world for another thriller of the time.
Directed by Oni Sen, the webseries stares Barun Sobti aka Nikhil Nair, Arshad Warshi aka Dhananjay Rajpoot as the main roles where supporting Barkha Bisht Sengupta aka Vrinda Srivastav with the guest appearance Suzenne Bernert and many others. This ott revolves around the story of the CBI officer Barun Sobti aka Nikhil Nair and Arshad Warshi aka Dhananjay Rajpoot to find himself in a brutal serial killer game.
The plot begins with the flashback of years where Nikhil Nair was a professor of forensic science who was not contented with his job. Later, he returns back to CBI(Central Bureau of Investigation) to his mentor Dhananjay Rajpoott for a serial killing case. Once, there was a boy who was referred as ASUR due to his extraordinary abilities, was kidnapped later.
On several evidence, they found the serial killer named Shubh Joshi, upbrought in an orphanage abused by his mates, as a result developed a mental disorder who thinks himself to be the god. Escaping from the CBI, been underworlds by Lolrak. With the help of the networking survillience, DJ identifies Jalan as the next target with a common component and evidence sending Shubh to prison. As a result, leading to Nikhil’s resignation from the job.
The second season upcomes with its 8 episodes depicting the whole drama sequentially. From its first season we have a clear picture of captivating the killer in jail by the forensic expert, Nikhil Nair and Dhananjoy Rajpoot.
‘The dance of death’ episode begins with the flashback of resurfacing Shubh after 18 years. Presently, the culprit is trying to create a link to start a war between evil and good through his new learned skills of artificial intelligence. So, it keeps the audience bewitched with its strong storyline and performance of the actors keeping a suspense link with the season 1. It bends us to be attentive in a thrilling approach to draw interest for the new world of dark.
Complimenting this, the investigating officer Nikhil found that the serial killer was more treacherous than ever thought, linked with the series of murders. Unfortunately, Shubh discloses every past happenings and the dark secrets that he was associated with. As a result, the mentor is trying to get the traces of captivating the killer but with that he is also struggling against his own dilemma if he has the ability enough to accomplish it ownself.
‘Building the Future’ episodes portrays us the acceleration of Shubh’s plan to a new world of artificial intelligence operated under his control closer to the victory. On the other side, CBI officers are strongly determining to succeed with their new set of working plan.
Hence, the countdown for the deadly war has begun and the killer is ready to unshackle his new ideas to the whole world. The effect of the war is seen negatively upon the world where the investigating officers were losing their hope of victory, running out of the course of action to stop Shubh.
But Shubh’s dominos effect in motion is starting to act upon the world and his plan is gradually closer to the end thereby Nikhil and Dhananjoy were fighting a lost battle. As a result, Shubh was successful in creating a new world with his dream plans and skills. It led to the birth of the most powerful person on the earth and regarded himself as the god by his followers. On the other twist, Nikhil and Dhananjoy were under his influence and operated and are being seized by Shubh’s evil powers.
After much dilemma, Nikhil and Dhananjoy found a ray of hope of way to cease Shubh but at a very upscale consequence. They had to follow a path that is good for the welfare of the world also at the same time should decide the fate of the future world.
In the end of the series, we came to know that Shubh is in jail custody commenting that there are still several Kalis out there in the world, who are thus carrying their work ahead. On hearing the self clarifying statement from the custodian, Nikhil fears for the upcoming hatred that might have a bad impact on us. Taking the chance of the situation, Shubh poisons Nikhil on the pretending gesture o handshake, thus avenging against his daughter.
The performance of the cast was simple yet effective and impactful on the audience depicting the authenticity of the character role, which is higly engaging and commendable. But, Meiyang Chang impresses us with his role breaking away from the stereotype performance always letting a room for performance which has a lasting impact upon the chair. They perfectly delivers the depth and intrigue to the storyline.
The team behind the whole webseries really deserves an heartful appreciation for their hard work and dedication for framing an exciting thriller series. Credits for the director, creators and writers along with the Reliance Entertainment and Jio Studio together has led to the top-notch production of the year, delivering an amazing experience.
There’s always a striking question within us that ‘Will there be a Third Season?’ as Asur 2 got so hyped tech among the web viewers thereby difficult to keep in track. As this season left the end loose which will focus on the richness of the story ahead.
