In April 2023, the dominance of the top-selling cars was evident, as they accounted for more than 75% of all car sales. Out of the top 25 models, Maruti had 10, Hyundai had 5, Mahindra had 4, and Kia and Tata each had 3. Among these, Maruti Suzuki models stood out in terms of sheer numbers, contributing over 48% to the top 25.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R claimed the title of the best-selling car in April 2023, with an impressive dispatch of 20,879 units. The previously top-ranked Swift slipped to the second position, recording dispatches of 18,753 units. Maruti's Baleno secured the third spot on the list. Notably, the newly introduced Fronx made a remarkable debut by securing the 15th position in the Top 25 list, with dispatches of 8,784 units.
In the SUV category, the Tata Nexon emerged as the best-selling SUV in April 2023, surpassing Brezza by a significant margin to regain the top spot. Hyundai's Creta maintained its position as the highest-selling Mid SUV and secured the fifth position in the overall Top 25 list.
The Maruti Grand Vitara secured the 17th position, narrowly edging out Kia's Seltos by a margin of 529 units. The entry of Maruti in the Mid SUV segment has led to its expansion and has also garnered positive attention for its Hybrid powertrain.
