New Delhi, July 16: A meeting of the All India Co-ordination Committee of Public Sector Trade unions (CITU) was held in New Delhi today. The meeting was attended by representatives of steel industry workers from across the country.
In his speech, CITU leader tapan sen raised several relevant issues of the permanent and contract workers of the steel industry. He said that the government's policies have led to a decline in the steel industry, and this has had a negative impact on the workers.
Tapan sen also said that the government has been resorting to privatization of the steel industry, which will further worsen the situation of the workers. He called on the government to stop privatization and to take steps to protect the interests of the workers.
The meeting also passed a resolution demanding that the government:
- Increase the wages of the steel industry workers
- Provide job security to the contract workers
- Stop the privatization of the steel industry
The resolution also called on the government to take steps to improve the working conditions of the steel industry workers.
The meeting was attended by a large number of steel industry workers, who expressed their solidarity with the CITU's demands. They said that they will continue to fight for their rights.
