Maharashtra Man Impersonates Judge, Attends Events with Police Escort

Maharashtra Man Arrested for Posing as Judge at Events

A man in Latur, Maharashtra, was arrested on Monday for impersonating a family court judge. The man, identified as Mir Ali Yusuf Ali Sayyed, had called the Shivajinagar police station on June 28 and requested a vehicle and a guard to attend a function in Shivankhed in Ahmedpur.

The police provided Sayyed with a vehicle and a guard, and he attended the function as a judge. He was even felicitated at the event for his appointment as a judge. However, after his photos from the event went viral on social media, police officials noticed something amiss and launched a probe.

The probe revealed that Sayyed was not a judge and had been impersonating one for several months. He had even obtained a fake ID card and a letter of appointment from a fake court. Sayyed was arrested on Saturday and charged with cheating and other offences. He was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Police said that Sayyed had been using his fake identity to gain access to government events and to meet with important people. He had also been using it to extort money from people.

This is not the first time that someone has been arrested for impersonating a judge in India. In 2021, a man in Delhi was arrested for posing as a Supreme Court judge. He had been using his fake identity to meet with government officials and to demand bribes.

These cases highlight the need for people to be more vigilant and to check the credentials of anyone who claims to be a judge. If you are ever unsure about someone's identity, you can contact the police or the court where the person claims to work.
