A SpiceJet Boeing 737 flight from Dubai to Kochi suffered a tyre burst while landing at the Kochi airport on Tuesday morning. The flight, which had 185 passengers and crew on board, made a safe landing and all passengers were evacuated without any injuries.
The tyre burst occurred as the flight was landing on the runway. The pilot of the flight immediately informed the air traffic control and requested an emergency landing. The flight landed safely and all passengers were evacuated using the emergency slides.
The cause of the tyre burst is not yet known. The SpiceJet flight was operated by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which is a twin-engine narrow-body aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with 16 tyres, four on each wing and two on the tail.
SpiceJet is a low-cost airline based in India. The airline operates a fleet of over 70 aircraft and flies to over 60 destinations in India and abroad. This is the second incident involving a SpiceJet flight in the past two weeks. On June 24, a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Jabalpur made an emergency landing after the crew noticed a technical malfunction.
The airline has been under scrutiny in recent months for a series of safety incidents. In April, a SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing in Patna after the engine caught fire. In May, another SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing in Mumbai after the cabin filled with smoke.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aviation regulator in India, has ordered an investigation into the tyre burst incident. The DGCA is also investigating the other safety incidents involving SpiceJet flights.
In a statement, SpiceJet said that the tyre burst was a "minor incident" and that the flight landed safely. The airline said that it is "committed to providing safe and reliable air travel" and that it is "taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its passengers."
