Teesta Setalvad granted bail by Supreme Court
Social activist Teesta Setalvad has been granted bail by the Supreme Court. The division bench of Justices BR Gavai, AS Bopanna and Dipankar Datta granted bail to Setalvad on Wednesday.
While granting bail to Setalvad, the court said that she would not contact witnesses and would not travel outside Gujarat.
The decision to grant bail to Setalvad has been welcomed by human rights activists. They said that this decision proves that Setalvad fought for the truth.
Setalvad was arrested in connection with the 2002 Gujarat riots case on charges of fabricating evidence. She was granted interim bail till July 19. With the grant of bail today, she will no longer be arrested.
