An Akasa Airlines flight, carrying 166 passengers from Mumbai, executed an emergency landing at Varanasi airport on September 30, 2023, due to a bomb threat received via social media. The flight's captain, following emergency procedures, safely landed the aircraft.
Authorities were immediately alerted in Mumbai, and security protocols were activated across all 16 airports the airline serves. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft, and a thorough search was conducted, but no bomb was found.
The airline is cooperating with the investigation into the bomb threat. Akasa Air CEO Vinay Dube said, "We are grateful to our crew for their quick and professional response to this situation. The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority, and we will continue to work with the authorities to investigate this matter."
The incident caused a delay in the flight, but all passengers were eventually able to reach their destination safely.
