The 16th Death Anniversary of the fighting leader Bahadur Singh Dhakad was observed by the AIKS with a Resolve Public Meeting at Sabalgarh in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh (MP) on 7 October. Dhakad was the General Secretary of the MP State Kisan Sabha and a CKC Member. He was also Secretary of the CPI(M) MP State Committee and a CC Member.
The meeting was presided over by senior leader Jugal Kishor Pippal, and it was conducted by Murarilal Dhakad. It was addressed by AIKS National President Dr Ashok Dhawale, Joint Secretary Badal Saroj, CPI(M) state secretary Jaswinder Singh, MP Kisan Sabha state president Ashok Tiwari, state secretary Akhilesh Yadav, senior AIKS leaders Gayaram Singh Dhakad, Mahesh Prajapati, Omprakash Srivas, Ashok Rathod, former president of the traders association Rajesh Gupta, and SFI leaders Rajvir Dhakad and Akanksha Dhakad.
All the leaders congratulated the peasants for having recently won the seventh successive battle against government-incited land acquisition in the Chambal valley.
Since Vidhan Sabha elections are due soon, all the speakers also denounced the all-round bankruptcy, communalism, authoritarianism and corruption of the BJP's Modi regime at the Centre and the BJP's Chauhan regime in the state. They specially condemned the recent grave and dastardly attacks on NewsClick journalists and on press freedom, and the arbitrary arrests of Prabir Purkayastha and Amit Chakraborty.
