DSP Workers Hold Massive Rally to Demand Bonus, Wage Revision, and Arrears

Workers of the Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) held a joint movement on Friday, October 13, 2023, to demand their annual bonus, immediate settlement of pending issues of wage revision, arrears of 39 months, wage agreement of the contract workers, and to protest against the anti-worker RFID & biometric system. The movement was led by all seven operating trade unions at the plant, namely:

  • HSEU(CITU)
  • DSPMU(INTTUC)
  • HSWU(INTUC)
  • DIKS(BMS)
  • DSSU(AITUC)
  • DSWU (AIUTUC)
  • DSPPEU(HMS)

The workers gathered at the main gate of the plant and marched through the streets of Durgapur, raising slogans and demanding their rights. They also submitted a memorandum to the plant management and the district administration, outlining their demands.



The workers have been demanding their annual bonus .They are also demanding immediate settlement of the pending issues of wage revision and arrears of 39 months. The contract workers at the plant are demanding a wage agreement, and all the workers are protesting against the anti-worker RFID & biometric system.



The joint movement by the DSP workers is a sign of their growing discontent with the management's policies. The workers have warned that they will intensify their agitation if their demands are not met.
