Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister: Bengaluru to get 190 km long tunnel to ease traffic congestion

Bengaluru is set to get a 190 km long tunnel to ease traffic congestion in the city. The Karnataka government will be inviting public tenders for the project within 45 days, according to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.

The tunnel will connect key areas of the city, including Bellary Road, Old Madras Road, Esteem Mall Junction, Miller Road, Chalukya Circle, Trinity Circle, Sarjapur Road, Hosur Road, Kanakapura Road, Mysore Road, Magadi Road, and Tumakuru Road.

Shivakumar said that the tunnel will be built in phases and is expected to be completed within five years. The project is estimated to cost around Rs. 50,000 crore.

The Karnataka government is hoping that the tunnel will help to reduce traffic congestion in Bengaluru, which is one of the worst affected cities in India. The city's population has been growing rapidly in recent years, but its road infrastructure has not kept pace.

The proposed tunnel is expected to provide a faster and more efficient way for people to travel around the city. It is also expected to reduce pollution and improve air quality.

The project is still in the early stages of planning, but it is a significant development for Bengaluru. The city is in desperate need of solutions to its traffic woes, and the tunnel could be a game-changer.
