LONDON - A British Sikh teen was stabbed to death in a London street fight on Wednesday, police said. Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The victim, who has not been named, was attacked in the early hours of Wednesday morning in the Southall area of west London. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police said four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They are being held in custody at a police station in Southall.
The victim's family has released a statement saying they are "devastated" by their loss.
"Our son was a kind and loving boy who had his whole life ahead of him," the statement said. "We are heartbroken that he has been taken from us in such a senseless way."
The local community is also in shock.
"This is a tragedy," said one resident. "We are all devastated. This is the last thing we expected to happen in our neighborhood."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack to come forward.
"We are investigating the circumstances of this tragic incident," said Detective Superintendent Peter Smith. "We are urging anyone who saw what happened or who has information to come forward and speak to us."
