Indian comedian Kapil Sharma on Wednesday took to social media to slam IndiGo Airlines after the airline allegedly told passengers that the pilot was stuck in traffic, causing a flight delay.
Sharma shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which he said, "First you made us wait in the bus for 50 minutes, and now your team is saying pilot is stuck in traffic, what? Really?"
"We [were] supposed to take off by 8 pm and it's 9.20 pm, still there is no pilot in cockpit...shameless," Sharma added.
Sharma's post went viral on social media, with many users expressing their solidarity with him and criticizing IndiGo for the delay.
IndiGo has since issued a statement apologizing to Sharma and the other passengers for the delay, and stating that it was caused by "operational reasons."
The airline has also said that it is investigating the incident and will take appropriate action against the staff members involved.
This is not the first time that IndiGo has been criticized for flight delays. In recent months, the airline has been facing a number of complaints from passengers about delays and cancellations.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also taken note of the increasing number of complaints against IndiGo. In October, the DGCA issued a show-cause notice to the airline, asking it to explain the reasons for the high number of delays and cancellations.
IndiGo is India's largest airline by market share. However, in recent months, the airline has been facing stiff competition from other airlines such as SpiceJet and Go First.
Whether the recent incident will have a negative impact on IndiGo's business remains to be seen. However, it is clear that the airline needs to take steps to improve its reliability and customer service.
