Pyotr Afanasyevich Trainin was a Soviet soldier and agricultural engineer who was awarded the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Socialist Labor. He was born in 1909 in the Voronezh province of Russia. In 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army and served as a tank driver throughout World War II. He distinguished himself in battle on several occasions, and in 1943, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his bravery.
After the war, Trainin worked as a chief mechanic at a state farm in Uzbekistan. In 1947, for his role in helping the farm achieve a record grain harvest, he was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. He died in 1978 at the age of 69.
