On 21 November 2023, approaching the end of the Rajasthan Assembly election campaign, thousands of people, including a large number of women, jam-packed the Dussehra maidan, the largest in Sri Dungargarh in Bikaner district, to vouch full and spirited support for the CPI(M) candidate Comrade Girdhari Lal Mahiya, who was first elected MLA in 2018 with a 24,000 margin. He is fighting both the BJP and the Congress in this election.
The public meeting was addressed by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and AIKS President Dr Ashok Dhawale, CPI(M) Haryana State Committee member and AIDWA Vice President Jagmati Sangwan, candidate Girdhari Lal Mahiya, Party leaders Ashok Sharma, Seema Jain and many others. All the speakers lauded the struggles and the many-sided developmental work done by Mahiya in the last five years, they roundly attacked the policies of both the BJP and the Congress, and called to ensure his victory by an even bigger margin this time.
After the public meeting, a huge and impressive rally of thousands marched through the town, replete with red flags, red banners, red placards and red badges.
