Three tourists lost their lives in an overnight houseboat fire on Dal Lake in Srinagar on November 11, 2023.
The bodies have been recovered from Dal Lake by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning and quickly spread to other houseboats moored nearby. Five houseboats were completely destroyed in the fire, and seven others were damaged.
The three tourists who died were Bangladeshi nationals who were staying at the Safeena houseboat. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Dal Lake is a popular tourist destination in Kashmir, and houseboat fires are relatively rare. However, the fire highlights the importance of safety precautions on houseboats, such as having working fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
