After 15 days of intense rescue operations, a breakthrough has been achieved in the Silkyara-Badkot tunnel collapse rescue operation in Uttarakhand. The debris that had blocked the tunnel has been cleared, and a 55.3-meter pipe has been inserted to create a vertical shaft to reach the trapped workers.
With the breakthrough, the first rescue is expected within the next hour. Rescue teams are currently preparing to send stretchers and mattresses inside the tunnel to facilitate the evacuation of the workers.
41 ambulances are on standby at the site to transport the rescued workers to hospitals. The health condition of the workers is still unknown, but they have been provided with oxygen and water through tubes.
The successful breakthrough brings a glimmer of hope to the families of the trapped workers, who have been anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones. The rescue operation is now in its final stages, and all efforts are being made to safely evacuate the workers as soon as possible.
