Jaipur, December 9th, 2023: Rajasthan's caretaker Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its delay in announcing the new Chief Minister of the state. Seven days after winning the assembly elections, the BJP has yet to finalize a name, prompting Gehlot to question their leadership.
"If Congress had not selected a Chief Minister for this long, then they (BJP) would have shouted a lot," Gehlot stated. "They are creating confusion and instability in the state by delaying their decision."
Gehlot further pointed to the recent Gogamedi land case, where he was forced to sign a document agreeing to an NIA investigation. He argued that this responsibility should have been handled by the new Chief Minister, who should already be in office.
"This delay is not only impacting the administration but also sending a message of indecisiveness to the people of Rajasthan," Gehlot added. "I urge the BJP to take a decision quickly and provide the state with a stable government."
The BJP has not yet responded to Gehlot's statements. However, there are reports that the party is considering several candidates for the Chief Minister's post, including former CM Vasundhara Raje, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Diya Kumari, a BJP MP.
The delay in naming the Chief Minister has created uncertainty in Rajasthan, particularly regarding the formation of the new government and the future direction of the state. It remains to be seen how long the BJP will take to reach a decision and what the implications will be for the state's political landscape.
