D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPIM Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee, along with Venkat Ram Babu, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Wimberlygunj, recently visited the land allotted by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for setting up of Industrial Estate at Lamba Pahar, Wimberlygunj. During the visit, it was observed that the Administration has failed to set up an industrial estate at the said place even though the land was allotted for the purpose in the year 1996.
The people of Wimberlygunj have been demanding the establishment of the Industrial Estate at the allotted site, but the Administration has been delaying the project for various reasons. Recognizing the importance of the Industrial Estate for the economic development of the region, CPIM Secretary D. Ayyappan assured the villagers that the issue will be taken up with the Administration. He emphasized the need for the Administration to expedite the process and fulfill its long-standing commitment to the people of Wimberlygunj.
CPIM leaders D. Laxman Rao, SP Kalairajan, and S. Chidambaram accompanied the secretary during the visit. They expressed their solidarity with the villagers and pledged their support in ensuring the establishment of the Industrial Estate.
The delay in setting up the Industrial Estate has caused frustration and disappointment among the people of Wimberlygunj, who have been eagerly awaiting the project's completion. The Industrial Estate is expected to bring much-needed employment opportunities and economic growth to the region.
It remains to be seen whether the Administration will heed the concerns of the people of Wimberlygunj and take concrete steps to establish the Industrial Estate. The CPIM's intervention has raised hopes among the villagers, but they remain cautious until they see tangible progress on the project.
