J&K Leader Omar Abdullah Pins Hope on Justice Ahead of Article 370 Verdict

Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir: National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah expressed hope for a favorable verdict in the Supreme Court's upcoming decision on the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters on the eve of the verdict, Abdullah said, "We hope for justice. We went to the Supreme Court in 2019 with the same hope, and today our feelings remain the same. We have been eagerly waiting for this day. Tomorrow, the judges will give their verdict, and we hope for justice."

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir also reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace and order in the region, regardless of the outcome of the case. "We have always maintained that we will abide by the court's verdict. We will not disturb the peace in Jammu and Kashmir even if the verdict is not in our favor," Abdullah stated.

His statement comes amidst heightened tension and speculation across the region ahead of the Supreme Court's judgment. The abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 was a controversial decision, with many political leaders and residents of Jammu and Kashmir expressing strong opposition to the move.

The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict on a batch of petitions challenging the abrogation on December 12th, 2023. The decision is likely to have significant implications for the political and economic future of Jammu and Kashmir.
