MANILA, PHILIPPINES - DECEMBER 2, 2023 - A powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Philippines near Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, today.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) says the earthquake struck at 3:59 p.m. local time (6:59 a.m. GMT) at a depth of 66 kilometers (41 miles).
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has issued a tsunami alert for coastal areas near the epicenter.
