Lionel Messi will not be participating in Argentina's upcoming friendly matches against El Salvador and Costa Rica in the United States due to a hamstring injury, according to the Argentina Football Association (AFA).
The AFA released a statement confirming Messi's absence, citing a minor right hamstring injury sustained during a match with his club, Inter Miami. This cautious approach by both club and country aims to ensure Messi's fitness for upcoming competitions.
The friendly matches, scheduled for March 22nd against El Salvador and March 26th against Costa Rica, serve as warm-up games for Argentina ahead of the Copa America, which will also be held in the United States this June-July.
Messi's injury also caused him to miss Inter Miami's recent Major League Soccer match.
