The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at the Chandigarh residence of senior IAS officer Varun Roozam on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024. The raid, which began at 7 am, is connected to the alleged Mohali Guava Scam involving 137 crore rupees.
Significantly, during the ongoing search, ED officials recovered bundles of torn documents found near the boundary wall of Roozam's house. These documents are suspected to be related to the scam being investigated. Varun Roozam, who currently serves as the Excise and Taxation Commissioner of Punjab, is under investigation for his role in the scam.
The ED is also searching other locations as part of this investigation. This development comes amidst scrutiny of Roozam's implementation of the Delhi Excise policy in Punjab after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power in the state. No arrests have been reported as of yet.
