Lucknow, May 15, 2024 — Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has ramped up his attacks on the BJP, predicting that public discontent with the ruling party will reach its zenith by the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak/India Today TV, Yadav stated, "People's anger is escalating and they are going to vote against the lies." He elaborated on the reasons behind this growing dissatisfaction, citing unfulfilled promises and public deception.
"The BJP promised double income for farmers and two crore jobs for young people every year," Yadav said. "During the Defence Expo in Lucknow, they spoke about the G20 and showcased grand visions. The government claimed substantial investments and job creation, but now the truth is out, and people are disappointed."
Yadav also highlighted issues of corruption and mismanagement within Uttar Pradesh, particularly focusing on the recurring problem of exam paper leaks. "They deceived the farmers, and in Uttar Pradesh, there are paper leaks in every exam. Whether it's Uttar Pradesh or Haryana, how are the papers being leaked?" he questioned.
He further criticized the BJP's handling of the police recruitment process, noting, "The government assured that the police recruitment process would be secure, with all necessary arrangements in place, yet even those papers were leaked. The BJP must answer these questions."
Yadav accused the BJP-led government of failing on multiple fronts, asserting that "every promise turned out to be false. People are going to vote against lies."
In addition to election-related issues, Yadav addressed several other controversies, including those surrounding AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine, donations received by the BJP, and the recent developments involving Arvind Kejriwal and Yogi Adityanath.
"The Samajwadi Party had already warned people about the vaccines. Now that the record confirms it, the BJP needs to answer. How much money did the vaccine companies pay the BJP?" Yadav questioned.
As the Lok Sabha elections enter their final phase, Yadav's intensified rhetoric underscores the high stakes and heightened tensions in the political landscape.
