An Air Canada flight destined for Paris was forced to return to Toronto Pearson International Airport shortly after takeoff on Wednesday night due to an engine issue. The flight, carrying 389 passengers, encountered the problem soon after departure, leading to a precautionary return to Toronto.
In a statement to CP24, Air Canada confirmed that flight AC872 experienced an engine issue. "After the aircraft landed, it was inspected by airport response vehicles as per normal operating procedures and taxied to the gate on its own," the airline stated. "The aircraft will be taken out of service for further evaluation by our maintenance and engineering professionals."
The Boeing 777 aircraft safely returned to Pearson Airport, where it was met by the fire department as a standard safety measure. Air Canada assured that all passengers will be accommodated on another flight scheduled to depart later the same night.
Flight tracking service FlightAware reported that the aircraft departed from the gate at 8:46 p.m. and landed back at Pearson Airport at 9:50 p.m. The prompt response ensured the safety and comfort of all passengers on board.
