Iranian Election Boycott: A Resounding Rejection of the Velayat al-Faqih Regime

In a decisive demonstration of dissent, the people of Iran have overwhelmingly boycotted the recent elections orchestrated by the Velayat al-Faqih regime. Official results reveal that only 40% of eligible voters participated in what many are calling a "disgraceful show" designed to fabricate the appearance of popular support for the Islamic Republic.

The Ministry of Interior reported that 24,535,185 votes were cast, out of over 61 million eligible voters. Adjusting for an estimated 4.3% of invalid votes, the actual participation rate drops to 36%—the lowest in the history of the Islamic Republic. Notably, the number of invalid votes, exceeding 1 million, is five times higher than the votes received by Mustafa Pourmohammadi, a controversial figure linked to the regime’s "death squad" during the 1988 massacre of political prisoners.

This low turnout underscores the Iranian people's disapproval of the regime’s deceitful tactics, including the Guardian Council's selective candidate approvals. Despite efforts by regime supporters and government reformers to encourage participation under the guise of choosing "the lesser evil," the majority of Iranians clearly seek an end to the current government.

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had urged citizens to vote, claiming that the "continuity and dignity of the Islamic Republic in the world depend on the presence of the people." However, the widespread boycott, particularly among women, workers, political prisoners, and families of victims, highlights a significant rejection of his appeal.

This boycott follows a pattern of dissent seen in the 2021 presidential elections and the March 2023 parliamentary elections, signaling a continued and growing cooperation among the country's freedom-loving forces. As the regime prepares for a second round of voting with fundamentalist candidates rallying behind Saeed Jalili, the people's message remains clear: the demand for genuine change and the end of tyranny persists.
