A violent altercation occurred in the reserved compartment of the Howrah-bound Down Dun Express as it entered Bihar, resulting in serious injuries to several passengers. The train, traveling to Howrah via Bihar, saw two unidentified individuals force their way into the S9 reserved compartment and attempt to occupy seats.
When the rightful passengers objected, a heated argument broke out. Upon arrival at the next station, a mob of approximately 100 individuals stormed the compartment, initiating a brutal assault on the passengers. Reports indicate that the assailants used sticks, leading to significant injuries, including head wounds, to several passengers. Women and children were not spared in the violence.
The railway police intervened promptly to manage the situation and restore order. A distressed passenger recounted the ordeal, saying, "I can't fathom how this could happen. I was injured, and my child is traumatized. It seems no one is safe."
Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the attackers and ensure the safety of train passengers in the future.
