UGC-NET 2024: NTA Announces Revised Examination Schedule

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the revised schedule for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) 2024. This significant change sees the transition of the UGC-NET examination to a computer-based test (CBT) format, departing from the traditional pen-and-paper methodology.

Key Exam Dates:

UGC-NET: The UGC-NET will be conducted from August 21 to September 4, 2024.

CSIR-NET: Scheduled for July 25-27, 2024, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test (CSIR-NET) remains a crucial examination for candidates seeking lectureships and research fellowships in India's premier universities and research institutions.

Additional Examination Dates:

AIAPGET 2024: The All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) will proceed as planned on July 6, 2024.

NCET 2024: The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) will now take place on July 10, 2024. This examination was initially scheduled for June 12, 2024, but was postponed.

 Background:

The UGC-NET exam was initially conducted on June 18, 2024, across two shifts nationwide. However, the Ministry of Education subsequently annulled the examination, citing potential compromises in its integrity. This decision affected over 900,000 candidates who had appeared for the test.

 Response to Recent Protests:

In recent days, student organizations have staged protests highlighting alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG and the cancellation of the UGC-NET exams. The Union Education Ministry has responded by acknowledging these concerns, but emphasized that the reported malpractices were isolated incidents. The Ministry underscored the importance of not penalizing the many candidates who had legitimately passed these examinations.

The NTA remains committed to conducting fair and transparent examinations, ensuring the integrity and credibility of the process for all candidates involved.
