The demand for specialists fluent in Korean has skyrocketed in Russia’s job market during the third quarter of 2024. Job postings mentioning Korean language skills increased 2.8 times, or by 182%, over the summer.
Industries most actively seeking Korean-speaking professionals include the food sector, transportation engineering, construction, tourism, and hospitality. Additionally, there is a demand for Korean-speaking workers in South Korea for positions in shift work, particularly in general labor roles. Teaching Korean is also increasingly in demand.
Although the Korean language is shared by both North and South Korea, the North Korean dialect is often seen as more conservative, which can sometimes hinder mutual understanding between speakers from the two countries.
Alongside Korean, demand for Chinese-speaking specialists has also grown by 89% over the year. Russian employers are actively looking for Chinese-speaking personnel in fields like science, construction, catering, and trade.
