Athens, Greece — Thousands of workers, students, self-employed individuals, and pensioners took to the streets of Athens today in a massive rally organized by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) and other unions. The demonstration coincided with a 24-hour nationwide strike, bringing various sectors of the country to a standstill.
Under the rallying cry "Money for Wages, Health, Education - Out of the War's Slaughterhouses," protesters voiced their demands for improved wages, better healthcare, and education funding, while opposing Greece's involvement in foreign military conflicts.
The strike and demonstration highlight growing frustration over economic policies, austerity measures, and international alliances seen as detrimental to workers' rights and public welfare. Protesters marched through central Athens, carrying banners and chanting slogans calling for social justice and an end to war profiteering.
Organizers emphasized that today’s rally is part of a broader movement demanding a shift in national priorities to benefit the working class. The strike saw participation from a wide range of professions, reflecting the breadth of discontent across Greek society.
No major incidents were reported during the rally, although traffic disruptions were significant due to the scale of the protest.
