Under the patronage of Comrade Fadel Warda, member of the Central Leadership and Head of the Central Youth Office, and in the presence of fellow Central Leadership members Izzat Arabi Katbi, Samir Khudr, Ayman Daqaq, and Taha Khalifa, the General Sports Federation, in cooperation with the Ministries of Higher Education and Education, as well as the National Union of Syrian Students, the Revolutionary Youth Union, and the Al-Baath Vanguard Organization, held the Second Conference on Developing School and University Sports.
The conference, titled “Physical Education: A Fundamental Pillar in Building Society and Preparing a Physically, Ethically, and Intellectually Strong Generation,” took place at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
In his speech, Comrade Fadel Warda emphasized the deep commitment to supporting sports and underscored its pivotal role in youth development, preparing them to be the backbone of the future and a foundation for sustainable human development. He highlighted that this dedication is inspired by the unwavering interest of the Party's Secretary-General, Comrade Bashar al-Assad, who has consistently championed sports as a message of peace, justice, and righteousness.
Comrade Warda further elaborated on the unique significance of school and university sports, stressing their importance in building the physical and mental capacities of children, adolescents, and youth. He called on the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, the General Sports Federation, and other relevant organizations to enhance programs and activities aligned with educational curricula. This includes expanding participation among students and athletes through competitions and championships, fostering a physically and mentally healthy generation. He also emphasized the need for joint strategic plans focusing on developing school and university sports by training staff, qualifying coaches, and upgrading sports facilities.
The conference featured a documentary showcasing achievements of the General Sports Federation. Attendees included the Ministers of Education and Quneitra Governor, Deputy Ministers of Higher Education and Education, the President of the General Sports Federation, several organizational leaders, and members of Parliament.
