Damascus, Syria – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in the Syrian capital on Sunday, leading a delegation to reaffirm Tehran’s unwavering support for the Syrian government amid a surprise offensive by foreign-backed Takfiri terrorist groups.
Speaking to reporters before his departure, Araghchi underscored Iran's commitment to standing by Damascus. "Today I am leaving for Damascus to convey the Islamic Republic's message to the Syrian government. We firmly support the Syrian army and government,” he stated.
The Iranian diplomat criticized the involvement of external forces, accusing them of fueling insecurity in the region. "We make no distinction between the Israeli regime and the Takfiri terrorists. Following the Israeli regime’s failures, the enemy is attempting to achieve its sinister goals by using these terrorist groups," he emphasized.
Araghchi expressed confidence in the resilience of the Syrian army, predicting a successful outcome against the terrorist forces. "The Syrian army, as in the past, will secure victory in the face of these challenges," he said.
The visit highlights the ongoing alliance between Iran and Syria as they face shared regional challenges.
