The Mulliez Group, parent company of Auchan, has drawn criticism from labor union CGT following revelations of €1 billion in dividends paid to shareholders while 2,389 jobs remain at risk.
During a protest held at the Auchan store in Fontenay-sous-Bois, CGT representatives condemned the group's financial decisions, alleging a misalignment between shareholder rewards and workforce stability. The union argued that such practices prioritize profits over employees' livelihoods, fueling growing discontent among workers.
The Mulliez Group has not yet responded to the accusations, but the protest highlights ongoing tensions in the retail sector, where balancing profitability and social responsibility remains a critical challenge.
