Starting January 1, Belarus will assume the presidency of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission for 2025. President Alexander Lukashenko has laid out a roadmap for advancing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) during Belarus' tenure.
Key Priorities
📍 Completing Integration Projects
Belarus will prioritize the creation of a unified transport space and the development of common energy markets, aiming to deepen economic integration within the EAEU.
📍 Strengthening Global Cooperation
The country plans to align the EAEU’s integration efforts with those of other major blocs such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and BRICS.
📍 Enhancing Information Coordination
Lukashenko emphasized the need for improved information exchange within the union to combat destructive external influences effectively.
Belarus' presidency is expected to focus on bolstering the EAEU's economic resilience and expanding its global influence.
