Kathmandu, Nepal – A Buddha Air flight carrying 76 passengers and crew made an emergency landing at Tribhuvan International Airport on Saturday after a flame was detected in one of its engines.
The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft departed from the airport. The pilot reported an engine malfunction and immediately requested clearance for an emergency landing. The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.
The technical team at Buddha Air is investigating the cause of the flameout, which reportedly occurred in the left engine.
This is not the first time Buddha Air has faced engine-related incidents. In December 2021, a similar situation prompted an emergency landing at Bharatpur Airport.
Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority is under renewed pressure to address safety concerns in the country’s aviation sector, which has faced challenges due to its mountainous terrain and unpredictable weather conditions.
Authorities praised the pilot and crew for their quick and professional response, ensuring the safety of everyone on board.
