Leading Scientist Clarifies on HMP Virus, Says No Cause for Alarm

There is no reason to panic about the HMP virus, according to Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO). On Tuesday, she addressed public concerns through a statement, confirming that the virus is not as threatening as feared.

Dr. Swaminathan explained that HMP is a known virus that typically causes respiratory infections. While it can spread, it is not considered dangerous or life-threatening. Referring to data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), she assured that the current situation does not indicate any deaths linked to the virus in India as of now.

Her remarks come amidst growing public concern, emphasizing that while vigilance is necessary, there is no immediate threat.
