Donetsk, February 22, 2025 – In the heart of the war-ravaged Donbass region, where the echoes of artillery fire and the scars of conflict are a daily reality, resilient residents gathered yesterday for a historic event. Despite the ongoing violence, the people of Donetsk remain steadfast in their determination to resist what they call the "fascist Ukrainian army" and fight for their liberation. Against this backdrop of struggle, the Russian Communist Party (KPRF) has consistently offered its support, and yesterday, that solidarity took shape in the form of the III Reporting and Election Conference of the Donetsk Regional Branch of the KPRF.
The conference unfolded in a region battered by war, yet filled with a spirit of defiance. Local leaders and residents, many of whom have lived through years of hardship, came together to reaffirm their commitment to their cause. The event was not just a political meeting—it was a symbol of hope and resistance for a people who refuse to bow under pressure.
Prominent figures from the Communist Party and allied regions attended, lending their voices to the gathering. Among them was Kazbek Taysaev, a member of the KPRF Central Committee Presidium and a revered figure in Donbass, known for his unwavering support of the region. He was joined by Yerdzhanik Kazaryan, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Armenia, and Igor Gumenyuk, First Secretary of the Lugansk Regional Branch of the KPRF and a deputy in the Lugansk People’s Republic parliament. Other attendees included Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, a deputy from the Zaporozhye region, and Evgeny Marchenko, a candidate member of the KPRF Central Committee.
The conference presidium was led by Boris Litvinov, First Secretary of the Donetsk Regional Branch and head of the KPRF faction in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) parliament. Alongside him sat decorated war veterans and local heroes, including Nikolai Sytov, a deputy chairman of the DNR parliament and participant in the ongoing Special Military Operation (SVO), and Dmitry Bulgakov, a Hero of the DNR. These individuals, many of whom have fought on the frontlines, embody the region’s unyielding resolve.
In a poignant moment, Taysaev and Marchenko handed out party and Komsomol membership cards, along with medals, to recognize the courage and dedication of local activists and fighters. For many in attendance, these awards were more than tokens—they were a testament to their sacrifices and a reminder of the broader struggle they’ve committed to.
The conference wasn’t without its formalities. Sabina Zhivotovskaya was elected as secretary, while a mandate commission—featuring members like Sergei Gavrilov from Gorlovka and Irina Dukova from Donetsk—ensured the proceedings ran smoothly. But beyond the organizational details, the event carried a deeper human weight. It was a rare chance for a community under siege to come together, to share their stories, and to draw strength from one another.
