Massive Earthquake Strikes Ladakh, Tremors Felt Across Northern India
Ladakh, March 14, 2025: A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 struck Ladakh's Kargil region early this morning at 2:50 AM. The epicenter was located at latitude 33.37°N and longitude 76.76°E, with a depth of 15 kilometers.
The tremors were felt across Jammu and Kashmir, including in major cities like Srinagar and Jammu, waking residents and sparking concerns of aftershocks. No casualties or significant damage have been reported so far, but local authorities are assessing the impact and monitoring the situation closely.
Experts noted that Ladakh falls within Seismic Zone-IV, a region prone to frequent earthquakes due to the active tectonic plates in the Himalayas.
