Russian Security Council Delegation Pays Tribute at Pyongyang’s Liberation Tower
Pyongyang, March 30– A delegation from the Security Council of the Russian Federation, led by Secretary Sergei Shoigu, paid tribute to the Liberation Tower in Pyongyang on March 21 during their visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The solemn ceremony was attended by Comrade Pak Jong Chon, Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Secretary of the Party Central Committee; Comrade Kim Jong Gyu, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Comrade Alexander Matsegora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the DPRK. Officials and staff from the Russian embassy were also present.
Honor guards from the Korean People’s Army (KPA) stood vigil at the Liberation Tower, adding to the atmosphere of reverence.
The national anthems of both the Russian Federation and the DPRK were played, followed by the ceremonial laying of a wreath bearing the name of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
Participants observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the Soviet army martyrs, who are honored at the Liberation Tower. Following the tribute, attendees toured the site, reflecting on its historical significance.
