Venmani Martyrs Memorial Flag Relay Marks the 24th All India Conference of CPI(M)
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (#CPIM) began its 24th All India Conference with the "Venmani Martyrs Memorial Flag Relay Program," commemorating the historic sacrifices of the Venmani martyrs. The event took place at the Venmani Martyrs Memorial site under the leadership of State Committee member Comrade V.P. Nagaimali.
Grand Opening Ceremony
The program was inaugurated with a welcome address delivered by District Secretary Comrade V. Marimuthu. In a symbolic gesture of remembrance and unity, the memorial flag was handed over by Polit Bureau member Comrade G. Ramakrishnan to Central Committee member Comrade U. Vasuki. This marked the commencement of the flag relay, symbolizing the legacy of the martyrs and the party’s commitment to their cause.
The event witnessed the participation of several prominent leaders, including State Committee members Comrades M. Jayaseelan and Sami Natarajan, Thanjavur District Executive Committee member Comrade S. Tamilselvi, and District Executive Committee members Comrades V. Subramanian, P. Subash Chandra Bose, M. Murugaiyan, D. Latha, V. Ambikapathi, K. Sitharthan, and A. Vadivelu. Union Secretaries Comrades T. Venkataraman, V. Rajaguru, V.V. Raja, A. Vetri Azhagan, P.M. Lenin, K. Venkatesan (South Keelvelur Union Secretary), and R. Muthaiyan were also present, along with other enthusiastic comrades.
Enthusiastic Welcome at Tiruvarur
As part of the relay program, the flag was carried to Tiruvarur, where it received a spirited welcome near the Tiruvarur Railway Station. The event was presided over by District Secretary Comrade T. Murugaiyan, who highlighted the significance of the martyrs' sacrifices in his address. The occasion saw overwhelming participation from local supporters and comrades, creating an electrifying atmosphere of solidarity.
Flag Relay in Chennai
In preparation for the 24th Party Congress, a separate flag relay led by State Committee member Comrade K. Balabharathi departed from Chennai. The procession began at the memorial torch of Comrade M. Singaravelar, a renowned thinker and sculptor. The relay passed through several key locations in central Chennai, where it was greeted with enthusiasm by party cadres and local communities.
